“We don’t employ people to make coffee; we make coffee so we can employ people.”
Espresso Train is an initiative of the Nundah Community Enterprises Cooperative (NCEC). Our motto encapsulates our mission of providing meaningful employment for people with a disability. We are a not-for-profit registered charity. The social enterprise is not owned by anyone, instead staff are members of the cooperative. Some staff sit on the Board along with expert advisors who help make us inclusive & efficient.
All our delicious food is made from scratch on premises. We choose local over imported and use free-range eggs & chicken. Our menu changes twice a year and provides tasty options for those with dietary requirements like vegan, gluten free & vegetarian. We are really flexible and able to accommodate changes to menu items. For instance, why not try the vegan patty instead of beef in the burger. Design your own sandwich, freshly made with haste. Or, as so many do, ask for something off the old menu. We’ll always do whatever we can to make your meal just the way you like it.
We don’t receive any ongoing funding so we rely upon our great food and a consistently high standard of service to survive and thrive. Our management and staff are always working towards the business being more sustainable (environmentally, socially and economically). The team were thrilled to win Australia’s Best Small Social Enterprise Award in 2015.
